Next!

Starting to make a top I made up earlier this year as a mock-up, but then went on to wear the mock-up even though it's not perfectly done. (it fits okay & is clean - haha!) I'm doing up another one, slightly altered, to make sure I'm okay with it before making one for a friend. The pattern was taken off said friend's original fab top!

Bad photo of pattern I took off the original garment. It's so wild to work on this piece - this is the back plus a little of the sides and shoulders!

Trued-up pattern on actual fabric (below). It's hot pink mid-weight to light-weight jersey.
This (below) is the bottom front & front yoke sections:

Fun puzzles!!

Queen for a Day (or 2 or 3...)

Finally, the Queen-size quilt is finished! Admittedly, I took my time, but anyhow....

Here 'tis:
And below you can see the dark grey piping used (well, you can sort of see it):

And here's Mittens figuring out which design to pounce on:

Classic Completed!

Indeed, it's true! Saved from my own overuse & neglect, here's the finished jacket:
Cute polka-dot hanging loop (above), which is never used, but I love!
Cuffs were shortened & hemmed in the same polka-dot bias. (below)

Here's a not-so-great shot of the finished item:

What happened with this favorite jacket?
Well......all popped seams repaired, zipper replaced, cuffs shortened & cuff buttons moved, lining fully replaced, including the pockets (oh, I love my new red, shiny pockets!). So much was learned about redoing a lining, which I've actually never done on my own (maybe when I was a stitcher, but can't recall). I had these, "Oh, it's done that way!", moments after I did it another way, but oh well. (insert smiley face here)

I guess that's it - hopefully this guy's good for another 50 years!

Rescuing a Classic!

I've worn my father's jacket so much over the years that I nearly destroyed it! So - it was high time last year to do something about it. The rescue mission began last year before we moved to N. Carolina & finished in early in 2014.
50 year-old jacket with the  lining & broken zipper removed.

The sad state of the lining laid on top of the bright red lining to come (just a teensy part of the destruction that I wore - broken zipper & all). It didn't look as bad when still part of the jacket! Honest.

Trekkies Unite!

A little alteration for a Halloween get-up. I didn't even wear it - too cold this year!!!! Sad, but
whimpy-ly true. It'll have to be for next year!

Above is the actual dress (from Get It, Kitten, on Haywood Road here in West Asheville)

Here's the Trekked-out version.

I made that insignia, BTW. Fun to do!!

Simple Shift #2

The Finished Dress! Fabric is from the Echino Decoro line & was from Fabricworm. (this link is another color way) Finished just in time to stop wearing linen, so it'll be brand new next year!
Back neckline dips down a tad (above) & front neckline stays in the realm of slight modesty & ease of wear (below).

Simple Shift

Recently finished a dress made to shake things up while doing the #@!%! quilt.

I was inspired by a dress in this book from Books Kinokuniya in New York, as well as a dress I made about 3 times in college.

Here it is laid out - pretty much a simple T-shape:

Quilt-tastic!

The first ever queen-size quilt I've tried. Squares finished & finding their placement (above).
Squares now together, sandwiching all the layers begins (above).

Attempting to shove the beast through my regular machine.
Found out what a 'long-arm' machine is for. (below)
It's still in process - nearing completion!

Catching Up!

Here are a few items to catch up (more on the way....):

Pink cotton lawn blouse - some gathering in the front & swishy-fab all around! From one of my Japanese pattern books. Finished in the early Spring & have been wearing ever since!

And here's finally a finished product begun about 5 years ago!

The dress began in 2009!!! Here's the post: A Sweet Frock To Start With.
